Despite some cases of young onset Parkinson's disease (PD), most of the patients are 65 or older. PD not only affects physical movement, but also mental/cognitive well being and autonomic nervous systems. These symptoms are often under-recognized, but affecting patient's function and quality of life significantly. Therefore, PD has been described as Geriatric Syndrome. Number of Canadians with PD is expected to double by 2030. The recent research publication in the Canadian Journal of Neurological Sciences has reported the success of the pharmacist-led telephone intervention at our Geriatric Clinic for Parkinson's. This presentation will help you to understand more about the symptoms and treatment of PD as well as to appreciate some practical tips on how to live well despite having PD.
